At Banco de Costa Rica, non-resident foreigners can now open bank accounts with their passports and a cellular phone number, as long as their average monthly balance does not exceed $1000.

Bargains galore await Feb. 11 when the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) auctions off 220 vehicles including cars, trucks, motorcycles, minibuses, a tractor and an all-terrain vehicle. The auction will be held at the ICE holding yard in Rincón Grande de Pavas.
