It sure seemed like it rained a lot in January this year, but I just finished tabulating the Hacienda Barú rainfall for January 2018 and updating the rainfall chart for the last 37 years. We began keeping records in 1981.
This January was above average for rainfall, but nothing spectacular. The average rainfall for January over 37 years has been 72.9 mm. This year is was 111.3 mm. There have been 8 years when the January rainfall was more than this year. The highest ever was 1991 with 225.6 mm, more than double January 2018. JACK Ewing
